EAT

  • After the Hindu ceremony you’ll have the afternoon in Ravello - there are loads of places to eat. Here are some we’ve tried and would recommend:

Piazza Centrale - the cafe’s in the main square are nice and it’s just a lovely place to sit, have a coffee and watch the world go by.

Palazzo Confalone - high end hotel with incredible views, opulent interiors and really lovely food.

Hotel Villa Maria - again stunning views from the terrace, a great place to enjoy a coffee, glass of wine or a cheeky afternoon limoncello.

Giuliana's View - traditional pizza restaurant a little walk down the hill, but still with great views across the sea.

  • Amalfi is a much bigger town than Ravello with lots of choices to eat.

Lido Azzuro - has great sea food and is overlooking the Amalfi bay harbour.

Trattoria dei Cartari - a traditional Trattoria a little way into the town, nice pasta dishes and seafood.

  • Positano is the classic Amalfi town, packed with tourists so there are plenty of places to eat, but we’ve recommended a couple a little outside the main town that we love.

Le Sirenuse - book well in advance to get a spot at this beautiful, swanky hotel and restaurant. Expensive, but worth it, Neha and I shared our first posh meal here.

Da Adolfo - best to get to by boat which you can catch from the Positano harbour. The boat whips you away to a secluded beach where you can eat at the restaurant, get a sun lounger and swim a little away from the crowds of Positano.

Limoncello Truck - make your way up from the beach, along the pedestrians walk way and you will come to the limoncello truck. It’s basically a lemon slushy, but it tastes so good on a hot day, a must try.

If you’re able to stay for longer, There are loads of things to do in the region. Below are some recommendations, but we’d love to hear what your plans are.

Path of the Gods is a beautiful hike. Neha and I have done the walk and highly recommend it. Set off early as it’s peak summer!

You can get a bus from Amalfi to Bomerano which is supposed to be around 40 minutes but allow at least an hour due to the traffic. The walk ends in Positano and then get the ferry back to Amalfi and then a bus or walk back up the hill to Scala or Ravello.

Hiking the Path of the Gods

Boat Trip

Walking the coast will offer incredible scenery, but one of the best ways to soak in the coastline is by seeing it from a boat. You can hire private taxi boats to take you between the towns along the coastline or get on one of the larger ferries that leave from Amalfi, Praiano and Positano.

There's no shortage of activities when visiting the charming town of Ravello. Whether you find yourself with a free moment or a leisurely afternoon, it's highly recommended to delve into the rich history that permeates the streets and buildings of this delightful destination. By immersing yourself in the captivating narratives of the town's past, you will gain a deeper appreciation for its unique cultural heritage and the intricate tapestry of its small towns. Take a stroll down the narrow cobblestone lanes, and you will be transported back in time as you stumble upon ancient monuments, centuries-old churches, and captivating architectural wonders. With each step, the whispers of the past will accompany you, painting a vivid picture of the lives and stories that have unfolded here. So, if the opportunity arises, do make sure to dedicate some time to uncovering the hidden gems that encapsulate the historical essence of Ravello and its surrounding small towns.

Ravello and Scala

The Duomo’s (Cathedrals)

Both Ravello and Scala have impressive cathedrals that are worth looking around. Scala in particular as it’s the oldest town on the Amalfi coast being founded in around the 4th century and the cathedral original built in the 12th century. The cathedral in Ravello also has a museum attached

That’s the Ravello cathedral in the background of Neha drinking a glass of wine, for some reason, it’s the only photo I took of the cathedral that afternoon.

Villa Cimbrone

You have to buy a €10 ticket to go into this gorgeous Villa, but it’s well worth it for one of most famous views on the Amalfi coast. A beautiful garden and the peerless infinity terrace is a great spot to add some pics to the ‘gram. When we’re rich and doing a second wedding, this is where we’ll do it!

Another beautiful Villa and gardens. This one gives you the classic Amalfi coast view and is right in the town square. Have a coffee or gelato at cafe outside and then go in to enjoy the Villa where you can pretend you’re Italian renaissance nobility
